Fort Wright welcomes new police officer
By Kathleen Bryant
Fort Wright recently hired a new police officer.
Officer Emily Horseman has already been sworn and worked a couple of shifts, but Fort Wright introduced her to city council and the watching audience during their Oct. 4 meeting.
Horseman has lived in Northern Kentucky for most of her life. She attended Notre Dame Academy for high school and Morehead State University for her undergraduate degree.
She has several years of policing experience and most recently came to Fort Wright from the Villa Hills Police Department, where she served for five years. Before that, she did some policing in Fort Thomas and at Kentucky State University.
Horseman’s resume includes excellence in accident reconstruction. Chief Ed Butler says that this is an especially useful skill to have on their staff due to the high number of vehicle collisions that their department sees.
Several major roads run through Fort Wright, so more accidents are associated with their high traffic levels. Horseman’s skills will be greatly appreciated in those scenarios.
Butler said, “She’s already hit the ground running and has done some good work.”
