Homestead Exemption Sign Up
Saturday, April 23, 2022
9:00 AM to 11:00 AM
The City of Fort Wright is proud to announce that we have partnered with the Kenton County PVA to provide an opportunity for individuals to visit the Fort Wright City Hall, located at 409 Kyles Lane, during flexible and convenient weekend hours to learn more about and/or sign up to take advantage of the Kentucky Homestead Exemption Act.
Please join Kenton County Property Valuation Administrator Darlene Plummer on Saturday, April 23, 2022 anytime between the hours of 9 am to 11 am at the Fort Wright City Hall to quickly process your application.
In Kentucky, homeowners who are at least age 65 years of age or older in 2022 OR who have been classified as totally disabled and meet other requirements are eligible to receive a homestead exemption. This exemption is applied against the assessed value of your home. Your property tax liability is computed on the assessment remaining after deducting the exemption amount.
The value of the Homestead Exemption for the 2021 and 2022 assessment year is $40,500. This amount is deducted from the assessed value of your home and property taxes. For example, if your residence is assessed at a value of $200,000, property taxes would be computed on $159,500 ($200,000 minus $40,500). The amount of the Homestead Exemption is recalculated every two years to adjust for inflation. The next adjustment will be effective for the 2023 and 2024 assessment years.
Bring your Driver's License or State Issued ID, and stop by City Hall on Saturday, April 23, 2022, between 9 am and 11 am to meet Darlene and apply for your Homestead Exemption.
