On February 3rd, 2021, the Fort Wright City Council enacted an Ordinance establishing an Amnesty Program for penalties imposed on delinquent real estate taxes for the Fiscal Year beginning July 1, 2020 and ending June 30, 2021. The Amnesty Program, established to assist property owners who may be struggling as a result of the Pandemic and/or who may have been negatively impacted by a delay in mail delivery service, postpones the imposition of penalties and interest to April 30, 2021.
For those who still have outstanding 2020 Property Tax obligations, as a result of the Amnesty Program a payment made prior to April 30th, 2021 will NOT be subject to additional penalty and interest.
Any 2020 Tax Statement not paid prior to the April 30th, 2021 deadline shall be deemed delinquent and shall have added thereto a penalty of twenty percent (20%) of the amount thereof, and shall bear interest at the rate of twelve percent (12%) per annum from January 1, 2021 until paid.
For those who paid the additional penalty and interest, as a result of the Amnesty Program, you are entitled to a refund in the amount of the total penalty and interest payment paid. Refunds have been issued and were mailed on March 5, 2021.
For those whose tax payments did not include the additional penalty and interest, as a result of the Amnesty Program, the penalty and interest charges have been removed from your account and your 2020 property tax obligation has been paid in full.
