Extending Filing Deadline and Payment Due Date for Occupational License Fees

Executive Order 07-2020

WHEREAS, on March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization declared the COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic; on March 6, 2020, Governor Andy Beshear declared a state of emergency in the Commonwealth of Kentucky; on March 13, 2020, President of the United States Donald J. Trump declared a National Emergency; and, on March 13, 2020, Kenton County Judge/Executive Kris Knochelmann declared a state of emergency in Kenton County, Kentucky;

WHEREAS, I Dave Hatter, Mayor of the City of Fort Wright, Kentucky, did declare by Executive  Order 4-2020 on March 18, 2020, that astate of emergency exists in the  City of Fort Wright, Kentucky;

WHEREAS, Governor Beshear has directed that all government offices offering in person services close to the public indefinitely, including all city administrative offices, and Kenton County administrative offices, which make payment of occupational license fees in a timely manner difficult or impossible for a number of businesses located in the city of Fort Wright;

WHEREAS, under such circumstances, I am further empowered under KRS §39A.100(2) and KRS §39B.070 to alter the leave policy of the City of Fort Wright to comply with the temporary leave requirements imposed under federal law.

NOW and therefore, I, Dave Hatter, Mayor of the City of Fort Wright, by virtue of the authority vested in me by KRS Chapter 39A and 39B of the Kentucky Revised Statutes, do hereby order as follows:

  1. That until further notice, the filing deadline and payment due date for occupational license fees for those that are not employees under Section 110.26(B) of the Fort Wright Code of Ordinances, is hereby extended up to and including July 15, 2020.
  1. During this extension, all penalties, interest, and fines for failure to file or pay the tax due on April 15, 2020 shall be waived if the required filings and payments are made on or before July 15, 2020.
  1. This Order shall expire with the expiration of Executive Order 4-2020.

THIS ORDER IS EFFECTIVE on April 1, 2020.
