Over the past year or so, the city has shared information concerning a major road improvement project involving a section of Amsterdam Road between Redwood and General Drives. This is a multi-year project that to this point has been in the planning stages. While actual road construction is still a year or two away, work in that area will begin next week with the replacement of a water main between Redwood and Morris. This work, contracted through the Northern Kentucky Water District (NKWD), will begin on Tuesday, March 13, 2018. As a result of the water main replacement, Amsterdam Road between Redwood and Morris will be closed during daytime hours. It will be open in the evening/night hours.
There will be a detour at Morris and Amsterdam that will route traffic to Park Road. General Drive at Amsterdam will not be impacted by this phase of the project. Residents in the Fort Henry area can access Amsterdam via General Drive. The construction crew has assured us they will work with residents in the area to allow local access. Additionally, it is their plan to address the section of road between Redwood and Fort Henry in the first few days of the project. This will allow access from Fort Henry to Amsterdam as quickly as possible.
It is also worth noting that the planned work hours on this project are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The planned completion date for this project is May 7, 2018. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this project.
If you have questions regarding the project, please contact the Northern Kentucky Water District at 859-578-9898.
Thank you,
